Hi,
I'm Susan.
My story starts in Utah, where I was raised by Hardings and nurtured by the great outdoors. Utah is a photographer's dream, but the open road was calling and it led me to San Jose California. It is here that I began to seriously study photography at De Anza, San Jose State, and I took various other classroom courses.
Creating meaningful memories.
The classroom setting exposed me to the work of photographers who documented life, such as Lee Friedlander and Vivian Maier. I loved that their raw, candid photographs gave me a glimpse into the life they saw as it unfolded in front of them, that they told the story of the people captured on film. I tried to emulate their work, from Maier’s heart wrenching image of the small girl crying at the side of her mother to the captivating scenes of everyday life reflected in shop windows. Now, energized by their passion and motivated by my own, I'm on a mission to find your story, to create compelling images that will not only be beautiful to look at, but will tell future generations the story of who you are.
