Hi,
I'm Susan.
My story starts in Utah. Part of my dad's job was to photograph scenes for the Utah Highway Patrol. I remember the smell of the darkroom chemicals as I looked through the photos (before we had privacy laws). In elementary school, I got a camera and I took my first darkroom class (at the time it was just a photo class) and finally understood why dad loved the smell of the darkroom so much. Dad retired from the Highway Patrol and his Wee Gee style photography and started focusing more on landscape photography. I tried to follow him in this direction--and still do when we are together, but it was life on the streets, and the human element that spoke my language.
Meaningful Memories.
Numerous cameras, four geographical moves, two kids (who endured endless shutter clicking as I documented every step) and two grandkids (same story for them) later, I am back in the classroom. I am still focused on the human element and the smell of the darkroom still takes me back to the kitchen table and dad talking about how he got the photo.
